Are There Any Prerequisites?
CISSP Experience Requirements
The CISSP is an advanced certification for those who have experience in IT security, however (ISC)² now allows those with no experience to sit for the certification exam (details below). CISSP exam candidates must demonstrate a minimum of five years of cumulative paid work experience in two or more of the eight domains covered by the CISSP exam. Candidates who possess a four-year college degree or regional equivalent, or additional (ISC)² certifications from the approved (ISC)² certification list will satisfy one year of the required experience. The maximum experience credit that can be granted for education is one year.
Candidates who lack the necessary experience can still take this training and become an Associate of (ISC)² by successfully passing the CISSP examination. Once the exam has been successfully passed by the candidate, they will then be afforded six years to develop the required 5-years of experience and will then be able to obtain the CISSP credential.
Work Experience
Candidates must demonstrate work experience that falls within two or more of the eight domains covered by the (ISC)² CISSP:

- Domain 3. Security Architecture and Engineering
- Domain 4. Communication and Network Security
- Domain 5. Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Domain 6. Security Assessment and Testing

Full-Time Experience: A candidate’s work experience is accrued monthly. A minimum of 35 hours per week for 4 weeks will satisfy one month of work experience.
Part-Time Experience: Part-time experience must not be less than 20 hours/week and cannot be more than 34 hours a week.
- 1040 hours of part-time = 6 months of full time experience
- 2080 hours of part-time = 12 months of full time experience
Internship: Internships, both paid and unpaid, can count toward the experience requirements of the CISSP exam and credential. Candidates must provide documentation from the organization on official letterhead that confirms their internship. Candidates who are interning through their school must provide confirmation of their internship on their registrar’s stationery.
Not Enough Experience?
Start on a pathway to certification with this training program, which will prepare you to pass the CISSP exam and become an Associate of (ISC)². This option allows candidates to take the certification exam without the work experience. Once you have passed the exam, you simply need to work to get the experience needed for certification.

How Long Will It Take To Get Certified?
